It's been 7-1/2 years since I last ran a marathon (OK, Boston, if you must know), and I've been hemming and hawing for the past few years when Liz Offen has approached me, but this year, for a variety of reasons, I've decided that I'm going to run the Miami Marathon - all 26 miles and 385 yards - on behalf of Team Yachad.
Two of my children are on the spectrum and participate in a variety of Yachad activities. My older son looks forward to Pizza and Parsha every Tuesday night, is an enthusiastic participant in Yachad activities from Zumba and mini-golf to barbecues and looks forward to Yachad Shabbatonim. He also went on Yad B'Yad for the first time last year and looks forward to going back this year. My younger son also looks forward to Yachad Shabbatonim and also participates in Zumba and mini-golf, and has expanded his range of Yachad activities as he grows older.
My running Miami and raising funds for Yachad is a way for me to repay good with good. I look forward to joining the many other runners in Miami on January 28 and I ask you to give generously to help me to support this wonderful organization. Visit my team's page
