All proceeds go directly to Yachad, the National Jewish Council for Disabilities, which is dedicated
to addressing the needs of all individuals with disabilities and including them in the Jewish community.

Running for a Game Changer!
I know that many of you are inundated with request for funds. I believe that my request is unique!
We have all experienced the feeling of being “alone” at some time in our lives. For most of us, the feeling passes; we can call a friend or go out for a cup of coffee or a walk with someone. For adult people with developmental disabilities, however, this same experience is not just a feeling; they are often truly alone. Most of the programs offered for the disabled are over by somewhere around 4:00 PM, which leaves a lot of evening and night time with very little to do and no one to do anything with.
In the winter of 2017, the evenings for the Yachad adult participants changed in a significant way as Yachad launched the Mendel Balk program. This program is open every Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. My son Yosef attends daily, and it has been a real “game changer” for him. Instead of lounging around for hours at home, bored and alone, he spends his evenings with his friends. He eats dinner with them, engages in art projects, plays video games, listens to music and just “hangs out” with his peers, talking, and laughing. This is truly an amazing program and it has changed his life. Thanks to Yachad and the Mendel Balk program, he is not alone – he has a place to go where he belongs.
At the end of January, I will once again, be participating in the annual Miami half-marathon, running to raise funds for this game changer program. I am turning to you at this time to respectfully request that you consider sponsoring me in this endeavor and lending your generous support to this most worthwhile cause.
